At La Fontaine Flowers we aim to produce high-quality flowers sustainably. Our farming practices are regenerative and low-till, building soil health and promoting biodiversity.

Minimising tillage means our flowers are grown in healthy soil with no need for synthetic fertilisers. We raise most of our seedlings in soil blocks, use IPM to control insects, and weed the field the old fashioned way - by hand!

Year round, seeds are soil-blocked by hand and raised to seedlings.

Flower fields grow cover crops during the off-season to maintain soil biodiversity and quality and prevent erosion.

When it's time to plant the flowers we use methods of minimal disturbance. This preserves the structure and ecology of the soil. The residual cover crops create a mulch that prevents weeds from growing.
Every insect has its place in the ecosystem but ideally it's not on our flowers! Relying on Integrated Pest Management means we regularly deploy nature's own weapons - usually lacewings and ladybugs - to take care of problems like aphids and caterpillars.
